Stained Glass Ornaments

Happy December! Hope this holiday season finds you feeling joyful and blessed!

Today I want to share an easy, fun, engaging holiday ornament project. Not only is this ornament easy to complete, but it is very inexpensive! Win-win!

The process to complete this ornament is easy, and you can use ANY artwork you want for the students to trace- symbols from any holiday or season can be used. You can find 4 different designs for free HERE- or feel free to make your own. (*Note: The sizes for cutting the paper go along with the designs I have included- if you choose to use something else you will want to measure your design and cut accordingly.)

Here are the supplies you will need:

Supplies:
*leftover scraps of laminating film (or use some fresh you have run through the laminator!)
*designs to trace (remember you can find some HERE or create your own)
*aluminum foil
*tape (works better than glue for this project- DOUBLE-sided tape is the best if possible)
*string, yarn, or ribbon
*hole punch
*scissors
*permanent marker (Sharpies work the best)
*Scrapbook paper or cardstock (cut pieces 3 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches for the back- 1 per ornament; you will also need 3 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch pieces for the frame on the front- 4 of these pieces for each ornament you will be making)

Step 1: Trace the design onto the laminating film and color in with permanent marker (be careful not to smudge- set it aside to dry when finished)

Step 2: Trim at the laminating film- BE SURE to leave an edge around the black diamond when cutting

Step 3: Cut a piece of foil the same size as your laminating film (I just lay the laminating film on a piece of foil and trim around the edge)

Step 4: Loosely crumple the foil, and then gently spread it back out- BE CAREFUL- it can tear easily!

Step 5: Attach the foil piece to the scrapbook paper (3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch piece with tape

Step 6: Attach your design to the top of the foil with tape- EDGES ONLY
NOTE: I flip the design over so that the side with the marker is facing down

Step 7: Take the 3 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch pieces and tape down to make the frame around the edges of the design

Step 8: Punch a hole at the top and string your ribbon (or yarn, twine, etc.) through

Hope you enjoy this easy, inexpensive holiday ornament!
